Durgam CheruvuDurgam Cheruvu is a fresh water lake located in the Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The lake is spread over an area of 83 acres surface area. Durgam Cheruvu is also known by its other name as ‘Secret Lake’ as it’s hidden between Jubilee Hills and Madhapur, there also stories saying there were no roads to reach the lake for twenty years. It has the total water volume of 1679430 Cu M and maximum depth of lake is 28 feet.

The lake was a primary source of drinking water during the rule of Qutb Shahi kings at their Golconda Fort residence and it was also used for irrigation as well. In 2001, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) initiated ways to promote the lake as the tourism destination and point of interest.

Durgam Cheruvu is also a boating destination with availability of mechanized boat, water scooter and pedal boat. And there is separate tariff for each type of boat ride. It also has fishing and you can spot people travel to this lake an weekends. It has one amphitheater which can put in a maximum of 1,500 people at a time. Artificial waterfalls, rock garden, restaurants, and natural rocks formation adds to the beauty of this point of interest.

As a part of tourism Durgam Cheruvu is open on all the days from 10 Am to 8 Pm. The entry fee for people is Rs 5 for children and adults. The mechanized boating fee is Rs 20; pedal boating fee is Rs 20, water scooter for Rs 20, Rs 50 for Shikars, Rs 25 for putty. The closest bus stop is HDFC Bank at Hi-tech City and closest MMTS station is Hi-Tech city. This can be also hired for film shooting for Rs 75,000 per day. The boats can also be hired at Rs 2,500.

If you want to relax from the buzz of the city culture than this spot is for you. Its 8 km away from the center of the city.
