Ganesh VisarjanGanesh Nimarjanam referred to as the day immersion of Ganesha idol. According to the trends followed by Hindu, Lord Ganesha idol are brought to home on the auspicious days of Ganesh Chaturthi and poojas are done on that day.

Ganesh Chaturthi marks the installation of clay made Lord Ganesha are erected temporarily in every locality. On 11th days the status is taken through the nearby streets with support of dance, singing and fan love for the immersion in river or the sea replicating the rituals of the Lord. Also the Ganesh Visarjan is done on the 3rd, 5th and 7th day as per the family tradition. The celebration during the immersion is very high as the people process this by shouting and dancing chants like “Ganapati Bappa Morya” and “Ganesh Maharaj Ki, Jaiii!!!!!”(Means Oh Lord Ganesha, come again early next year).

 

Today Ganesh festival has not only a popular festive celebration but has become very important economic activity in the twin cities. Mostly the Hyderabad city declares official holiday on this day along with holiday on Ganesh Chaturthi.

The immersion of Ganesh in Hyderabad is done in Hussain Sagar under high scrutiny and it’s the favorite place for the immersion. Few other people who use Saroornagar lake for the immersion of Ganesha and rare people who are extremely enthusiastic go to Nagarjuna Sagar Dam which is located 200 kms from Hyderabad.

The fact that there are environmental impacts due to the immersion of idols made of Plaster of Paris into water of lakes, rivers and sea.
