Among the top metro cities, Hyderabad is fast developing and it has commonly been referred as ‘City of pearls’ or ‘Pearl city’. In the village of Chandanpet, just in the outskirts of Hyderabad the entire population is engaged in drilling pearls and many people in Hyderabad deal in the business of pearls. This makes Hyderabad as one of the largest drilling centers in India.

The Hyderabad Pearl market is situated near the family streets of Charminar. Tourists who visit Charminar they are advised to visit this market and have the beautiful charm of pearls.

When the pearls are drilled, to get rid of the dark color they are boiled for five days for bleaching. They are immersed in solution containing hydrogen peroxide, ether and water solvent for few days. Once they are done they are washed and separated with a different sizes and shapes.




Pearls are also available in pink and black color with good quality. To identify pearls with good quality place it in ultraviolet light and if it splashes sky blue color then its a good quality one and if it gives green color then its with poor quality.

The quality of Hyderabad pearls is so better that its now exported to markets in Europe and America. With that income several advanced machinery has been used for the refinement process.
