Hyderabad Race ClubHyderabad Race Club is a horse racing track located in Malakpet, Hyderabad, India. The history of Hyderabad Race Club is of more than 120 years. Records tell that racing existed during the times of Nizam’s far back in 1868. The race course is rated as one of the top race courses in India. It’s also the venue for the annual event named as Deccan Derby is held here.

The Hyderabad Race Club was constructed in 1886 to serve the need for the ruler Mir Mahboob Ali Khan the sixth Nizam wanted the race course to be nearer his palace. So according to his will racing which were previously conducted at Moula Ali Racecourse were afterwards conducted at the Malakpet Hyderabad Race Club. The name Hyderabad Race Club to the racing club of Hyderabad was added in the year 1956.

Two different race tracks adjacent to each other for the monsoon and winter seasons are available. The Monsoon Race track is sand based and it used between July and October whereas Winter race track is used between the period from November to February.

In 1976 a second winter track was added on which Hyderabad Winter Races are held. The Hyderabad Race Club provides various facilities which include members stand, grand stand, swimming pool, race tracks, training facilities, On Course betting, Off Course betting centers and a museum of collections.

The following arrangements and facilities are available –

Members Stand

For the participants there includes the members stands compromising 260+ seater boxes and 800 open chairs for the guests. It also includes a VIP enclosure too. The Members Stand also has Stewards Box, Stewards Committee Room, Governors Box, Stipendiary Stewards Box and Judges Box. Along with that a world class canteen, owners and trainers cafeteria is located on the ground floor of the members stands.

Grand Stand

The first enclosure in India is the largest and the most modern compared with the best in anywhere in the country. It comprises of 2 tier gallery with chairs with combined seating capacities. It also includes a new Paddock Viewing Gallery capable of accommodating more than 2000 viewers. The new Book Makers market ring includes 16000 sq ft area and provides computerized services.

Stables

There are approximately 500 permanent stables and 100 temporary stables can be accommodated during the racing season. All the permanent stables are provided with air coolers or ceiling fans.

Swimming Pool

The Swimming pool here is in horseshow shape with independent entry exit zones. A filtration plant keeps the water in the pool clean and fresh.

Training Facilities

Hyderabad Race Club also provides trainings for the new joiners. It has a dedicated training sand track. For the charges you need to visit the Hyderabad Race Club office.

The museum includes the old & rare pictures dated of Nizam times, Britishers and older events.

How to Reach

Hyderabad Race Club is at a distance of 3 kms from Koti center on the way to Dilsukhnagar. The nearest landmark is Govt. Dumb and Deaf School, Malakpet.
