Architecture in Andhra Pradesh has various setups. The prehistoric Buddhist architecture monuments would be less but still there are traces of Buddhism in this part of the world. Then there are the rare traces of great Kakatiya Kings and more were flourished during the time of Qutub Shahi dynasty and the Nizams.
The Paigah were nobles of Hyderabad and they ranked next to the Nizam kings. The Nizam has lot of respect on them. The Paigah Palace located in Begumpet was constructed by Sir Vicar-ul-Umra. He served as the Prime minister of Hyderabad from 1893 to 1901. This palace now houses the Consulate General of the US in Hyderabad which was also the office of Hyderabad Urban Development Authority. It was constructed in 1880s and they were built in neo classical style with semicircular arches. It has two storeyed building and has verandas on all the four sides.
Sir Vicar ul Umra also constructed the famous Falaknuman Palace which took 9 years to complete and later he realised that he has invested much money, he gifted it to Asaf Jah VI. Other Paigah family palaces includes the Bashirbagh Palace on the north end of the city which is demolished and the Asman Garh on a hilltop in Dilsukhnagar still survives.
The Paigah Palace is now a Heritage building approved by HMDA.
