Saroornagar LakeSaroornagar lake is a man-made lake located in Saroornagar region of Hyderabad, India. It was constructed in 1626 for the purpose of drinking water storage and for agriculture needs.

Saroornagar lake is spread over an area of 180 acres, the lake has the maximum depth of 21 feet or 6.1 meters. Saroornagar lake is among the major five water bodies in Hyderabad. But since the formation of Andhra Pradesh and its capital being Hyderabad, the city witnessed numerous growth in population, industries and result was the dump of domestic sewage, waste and others in the catchment area of the lake.

Saroornagar lake has a children park, boating facility and a restaurant. The children park is so well built that it attracts a lot of visitors from the near vicinity. The park features landscapes, sculptures, lawns, and gardens in a total area of 5 acres. In addition to that sewerage treatment plant was developed adjacent to the park. Benches are setup on the roadside area and in the park to enjoy the best time along the lake. This lake has become the favorite path for the morning joggers and evening walkers.

If one has to reach it this lake he should be reaching Saroornagar bus stop and from there it’s just the matter of few steps. The park timing is from 4 Am to 11 Am in the morning and 3 Pm to 8 Pm in the evening. The entry price per head is Rs 5. You can spot many ice cream providers and stalls nearby.

In 2003, the development of the lake began and as a result by 2008 it took into the present shape. All in together Saroornagar lake is known point of interest for the local people.
