Secunderabad Railway Station is the commuter rail hub and a major railway station located in Secunderabad. It falls under the South Central Railways of Indian Railways and Secunderabad Junction is the headquarters of South Central Railways.

The Secunderabad Railway Station was builty by Nizam of Hyderabad State in 1874 during the British rule. It served as the primary station of Nizam’s Railway until 1916 when we had Kachiguda Railway Station. The latter when India became independent the operation and management was handed over to Indian Railways in 1951.

The railway station was constructed in Asaf Jahi style of architecture and its resembles like a fort. It has connectivity to all parts of India. More than 300 trains depart and arrives daily with more than two hundred thousand of passengers passby. The Secunderabad Railway Station is easily accessible by various means of transport like MMTS and Andhra Road transport through buses.

The Secunderabad Railway Station has 10 platforms with broad gauge tracks. The platform number 7 and 8 are for the service track for MMTS trains and passenger trains and so they are divided in to 7A, 7B, 8A and 8B. The main platforms like 1 and 2 are for long distance intercity trains, 3, 4 & 5 are for the intercity trains which either originate or pass through Secunderabad like Rajdhani Express. The newly constructed platform 10 is used by Hi Speed long distance trains connecting cities with high passenger densities.

The recent addition of fast train like Duronto Express trains were set to this station with Mumbai Duronto Express and New Delhi Duronto Express trains with no stop. The passenger facilities at Secunderabad Railway station includes the lodging, restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, AC waiting halls, General waiting hall, train enquiry counter, train status display LED boards, train status announcement, foot over bridges.
