Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy is a national institute for training of IPS officers. Before IPS officers are sent to their allocated Indian state cadres, they are trained at this academy located in Hyderabad, India. The National Police Academy (NPA) trains police officers who are selected through All India national Civil Services Examination. Once these officers are thoroughly trained they would be posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the respective states under whom the sub ranks of police would be working.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy was formed in September 15, 1948 just after the India’s Independence from the Britishers.

The primary purpose of this academy is to prepare leaders in Indian police and be a centre of research studies on police subjects.
